What is Dragon Boating?

Dragon Boating is an explosive, highly competitive sport, racing a 40 foot Chinese boat with a crew of 20 against other teams to the beat of a drum. Teams compete from all over the UK and also internationally

Like running, horse racing and marksmanship, the racing of dragon boats is among mankind's oldest organized competitions...the team paddling sport of dragon boat racing originated in China over 2000 years ago.

It is an excellent aerobic exercise enjoyed in a real team atmosphere. A very good upper body work out whilst building core strength

 

 

When do we meet up?

We train twice a week for around nintey minutes

You'll find us at our clubhouse in Wraysbury on Sunday mornings at 9.30 am and Thursday evenings at 6.45 pm

We have excellent facilitiies, with changing rooms, showers, large kitchen and a bar for 'apres paddle'

Come on down and give it a try, its a great team sport!

Thames team prove a Fortitude to be reckoned with in Budapest

Image 1Thames Fortitude managed to secure bronzeware in both the 2K and the 500m competition and just missed out in the 200m by a fraction in 4th place. This photo of Thames winning their 500m heats just shows how important that last call for the line is!
